Hey all!

So sorry for the lack of updates. Been super super busy running around the past few weeks, going for acting classes, going for meetings, emceeing events, script readings, image making and rehearsals, add to that, I’m also in the midst of helping a company source for some artistes, as well as a trip to Bangkok for a commercial shoot, I barely have time to sleep!

I guess I can now officially announce that I got myself 2 acting gigs in 2 separate TV series, both Mandarin, which will air on 8TV. Watch out for me in Goodnight DJ 2, as well as 8TV’s anniversary drama - A Time To Embrace(ATTE) coming soon. Both roles are supporting leads and challenging in their own right and I’m so excited to be starting shoot for DJ2 this week and ATTE on August 1st!!

Another exciting news! This site is going through a revamp!! Hopefully sometime in mid-august, you’ll be able to see a brand spankin’ new and cooler, more sophisticated looking belindachee.com!! So, really, watch this space!!

The month of May

First of all, thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. I really do feel overwhelmed by all the well-wishes, wall posts on Facebook and even e-cards I received from friends and acquaintances, you guys really know how to make a girl feel special on the day she said hi to the world, 28 years ago now. ;P I’m currently on a road trip with Joe around the east coast, in Kuala Terengganu at the moment, will be in Penang this weekend to emcee the 7aste Cape Town event at Mansion 32. Penangites, if you guys have nothing on this Friday night do drop by, alright?

So we’re already half way through the month of May. Time flies, doesn’t it? I really do apologize for not updating more often, a lot of times, I’d feel like updating but I don’t know what to blog about. Plus, it’s been quite a busy 2 months for me, nothing set in stone yet, but I’m really grateful that jobs are steadily pouring in.

Photoshoots

I’ve been keeping busy with various photoshoots, from profile shoots to magazine shoots..

Getting hair and makeup done at ‘Glitters by Eddie Putera‘ a brand new studio in town opened by husband and wife team of Eddie Putera and Nurfarahin Jamsari. That’s Awin doing my hair, she did an awesome job on my makeup too!

Kak Farahin had invited me to do some profile shots at their new studio and since I haven’t done a profile shoot in a while, I jumped at the opportunity!!!

This is just one of the shots taken by Abg Eddie and I absolutely love it!

Fooling around with Jason and SK when the cameras weren’t rolling at a Female magazine photoshoot. We were in a petshop at Mines Shopping Centre. I had to cuddle a little bunny rabbit for this photoshoot and I’ve never held a rabbit before, so it was quite a nerve-wrecking experience - for the rabbit and for me!!:)

Legs galore!!! Hehehe… With other hot chiccas for a shoot for Mint Magazine. It’s for the World Cup 2010 special issue and we were all given a quiz about the World Cup and I’d failed miserably. I only got 3 out of 10 questions right!! Who knew it was Winter time in June in South Africa?!?

Mother’s Day Celebration

The mothers in my life…my grandma and my mum.

I treated my family to a nice dinner at Angus Steakhouse in Pavilion for nice Japanese steaks.

I know a lot of times, our parents just want to spend quality time with us and that’ll make them really happy. However, sometimes, I think a gift is in order, just to show them that we do care and think about them and we appreciate everything that they’ve had to go through to bring us up. A meaningful gift is just a little form of ‘payback’ if you will…..

This year, I found them both a perfect gift! Aptly named the uMama Warm, by Osim.

This one compact device thumps the tired shoulders and lower back and also warms the cramping/aching tummy all at once! Joe bought a set for his mother as well!!

It’s not a lot of money to spend to guarantee our mums that 15 mins of comfort everyday, knowing that they’ve spent even more on making us comfortable all our lives!

Emergency First Response (EFR) Class

I’ve always had the intention to learn how to do First Aid and CPR but never really pursued it actively. So when Lee and Cyrena from Dolphin Sport told me that they will be conducting EFR classes for some of the soon-to-be Rescue Divers and asked if I wanted to join in the class, of course I said YES!!

About to give CPR to a half-bodied dummy…

We played out some case scenarios as well… It was both fun and informative!! Of course you pray that you’ll never have to perform CPR on someone for real, but with the knowledge, if a situation arises, at least I know I can do my part in helping save a person’s life.

I’ll be taking my Advanced Open Water Diving Course in Perhentian next weekend!! So excited!!! Can’t wait to go underwater again!

Around Town..

Went to watch the first live show for 8TV’s Showdown 2010 at KL Live Centre last Wednesday. Hafiz from Fly FM is the host of this reality dance show on the lookout for the best dance crew in Malaysia.

There was a mix of some amateur crews as well as professionals in this competition. But boy, can they all dance!! This is the Gila Battle Crew (GBC) performing their routine. They’re one of the crowd favourites. You can watch all episodes of Showdown 2010 on Catch-up TV at www.8tv.com.my.

That’s about all I have to update on for now. Gonna go to MYDIN mall now, the most happening mall in KT to do some shopping! hehehe…. Till my next post! Love Love everyone!!

Life so far..

Hi all,

Just a quick lil update of my life, so far.

Married life is good, I feel so blessed. Joe is working hard to earn money so I don’t have to work…hehehe…I have a mother-in-law who takes great care of everyone in the house, so I always have food to eat irregardless of what time I get up or get back home. Work has been steadily streaming in, I’m loving all the breaks I get to take to go see the world, what else can I ask for? Life is treating me well.

Just got back from a tour of Taiwan with my MIL and family, was supposed to leave for a “2nd honeymoon” to Europe this Saturday but we’ve decided to postpone the trip till August in light of the current air space/volcanic ash situation. Still working on the 4th Episode of It’s a Belle World, don’t know whether there’ll be more episodes coming after that because I haven’t been diligent enough in video-ing my trips. hehehe….

I have several new projects in talks at the moment which I’m really excited about, kinda anxious as well coz it’ll require me to really step out of my comfort zone and overcome new and very challenging obstacles. Don’t know whether I still have the determination in me to pull through. We’ll see…:)

Photobooth is fun!

It’s been pretty full on this Chinese New Year for me, a big chinese dinner every night, gambling sessions, drinking sessions (not like I drink or gamble much but my husband’s been having a blast!) Last night, we attended a wedding dinner with my in-laws which ended pretty early. And I thought since I have a face full of makeup on and I haven’t done any frivolous posts in a while, I decided to camwhore with my Macbook’s Photobooth!

I like how the screen flashes white everytime you take a picture to illuminate your face! Very smart!

Ahhhhh!!!!

Awwww…..2 is definitely better than 1…..

My attempt at looking slightly sad and innocent…..and if you look closely, you can see my husband all konked out and fast asleep after having one too many drinks….. Things girls do to entertain ourselves!! Hehehehe….

Anyways, hope your break has been a good one! It’s back to normal on Monday for most!! 2 more weeks till my next diving trip in Tioman!! Can’t wait!!

There is only one God

I am a Catholic, I was born into this religion. I may not be a devout or practicing Catholic but I do believe in God and to me, that’s what matters. The events which happened on Friday got me really unsettled, I couldn’t really sleep, and it just so happened that I was 2 days into reading Mitch Albom’s latest non-fiction - Have A Little Faith. The book is a true story about the author being asked to write a eulogy for his Rabbi, and in the process he learned a lot about faith and the simplicity in believing that there is something out there that’s bigger than all of us.

I thought it was a great read and I cried and laughed and cried again until I finished the book at 4am in the morning. It was an easy book to understand although we all know, we seldom get straightforward answers to questions about faith. Yet, his Rabbi’s answer to all of life’s questions were simple and they made perfect sense.

The last few sentences of the book resonated in me and I think it is really relatable to all of us right now.

“God sings, we hum along, and there are many melodies, bit it’s all one song - one same, wonderful, human song.” - Mitch Albom

Just forget about all the different definitions of your God or my God, because He is one and He is our only Creator. Peace and Love people!

Lost in Putrajaya!

I was in Putrajaya with a bunch of other bloggers and DJs from Fly FM for a Media Day Out on Friday. It was a fun-filled day indeed. My muscles are still sore from the rock climbing and waterskiing! ;P Will blog about the whole trip soon. But now, here’s just a little teaser, this was what happened when I got lost in Putrajaya!!

Hehehe….This was apparently, a shortcut and yes, it is a pathway for pedestrians, through a park. My car and I did however, arrive at Alamanda safely in the end.

Teeq…. A Let Down

A couple of my friends and I went to try out this new eatery located on the rooftop of Lot 10 - Teeq Brasserie- recently and let me tell you, it was a total let down. Menu was limited, I think there were less than 20 dishes altogether - a fusion of asian and western cuisine, service was horrible, waiters were all blur and slow, one of the captains who took our order was really rude, food was so-so, very small portion but quite pricey and to top it all off, I don’t know whether he does this every night or just that night we were there, but the head chef was screaming “Service!” at the top of his lungs every few minutes, making the place seem less classy than it claims to be. My friends and I have vowed not to return. I guess I had too much of a high expectation going there judging from the chic decor and that it was YTL, but this was genuinely the first time I felt so displeased after a meal I had to pay about RM100 per person for.

However, we do still go to the club next door, Rootz, once in a while. It’s like the hottest club in town right now and all my friends can’t get enough of it. They’re there every Saturday night! Perhaps I’m just getting a little too old for the entire clubbing scene because I think Rootz is a little too jam-packed for me. I don’t mind going early but after midnight, it’s just crazy packed and I can’t stand the smoke, there’s no space at all to even move, let alone dance! And every time we leave, there’s still a long line of people waiting to go in!!! But seriously, I wonder how we can start rallying for all clubs in Malaysia to be smoke-free, just like in Singapore? That will make it much more enjoyable for people like me who do not want my hair and clothes to reek of smoke every time I go out to have a bit of fun with my friends.

Anyways, I guess you guys must’ve noticed that I’ve been updating pretty regularly. I’ve been relatively free since I left the Quickie. But things are starting to pick up, and I am working on a project by myself right now which I’m really excited about and hopefully I’ll be able to share it with everyone soon. I want to know though, what kind of posts would you guys like to see more of on my blog? Please do comment.

Wedding(s): Part 6 - Hair & Makeup

When you’re going to be the centre of attention, you’d want to look your best and as a bride, you’d want to look the best you’ve ever looked, ever! And since no one wakes up looking good, a good makeup artist and hairstylist is an essential part to making your day extra special!

I employed the same makeup artist for my Kuching and KL wedding, she does hair also, so it’s 2-in-1!! In fact, I brought her to Pangkor Laut to do makeup and hair for my Pre-Wedding photoshoot as well! Her name is Hebe Leng.

This is Hebe!

I got to know her from doing several photoshoots with iFeel magazine where she was the makeup artist. One of them being the pink themed shoot from iFeel Magazine last year. We became friends and I even got her to come to my house to help me with my hair and makeup when I was invited to present an award at Anugerah Skrin last year!

The thing I like about Hebe is that, because we’ve worked together on many occasions, she knows my face well, she knows what works and what doesn’t, she’s really talented and creative especially with hairdos, and she’s very efficient and always on time!!

Hebe and I had a short discussion before the wedding on all the different makeup and hairdos I wanted for both my weddings and she really just took off with the ideas, I don’t even remember requesting for anything special but she did her magic and thanks to her, I dare say, I looked great on both my big days!

Let’s start with my makeup and hair in Kuching!

With my skintone, I prefer eyeshadows in the shade of browns and purples. We started off with a really light shade of purple for church with light pink lip colour. I had on a set of very natural looking false eyelashes as well.

The makeup looked really natural and yet managed to enhance all my best features. That’s what makeup is supposed to do, not make you look like another person!

I really like this picture! Especially with the pink wallpaper! This was me after I got into my wedding gown, hair not fully done yet.

As for hair, I didn’t want the conventional up-do for church so I opted to leave my hair down. Hebe curled my hair and did sort of a half-do, but not quite full-half, swept a fuller fringe from the side (a comb-over!! hahaha…) and put in some lace to accessorize. My friend Aishah said I looked like an elf from ‘Lord of The Rings’ with that hairstyle! Which is good…. I guess! (me thinks meself as Liv Tyler)

We kept the same makeup for my tea ceremony (although we added a slightly darker lip gloss). I told Hebe that I wanted a low-bun to go with my cheongsam and left the rest to her. She did this very creative, braided bun and stuck whatchamacallit, those dangly chinese hair accessories in it!

In the end we only used one of the dangly hair accessory.

As for the Kuching dinner reception, I wanted a more evening look, with darker eyeshadow.

I don’t know what colour we used here but the eyes definitely looked more dramatic. We added a set of thicker false lashes but kept the lips nude.

In KL, I told Hebe to do the same kind of makeup for the day.

We used purple eyeshadow again and instead of a light pink lip colour, we opted for a slightly more purple lip colour.

As for hair, I requested for the conventional up-do for the day. The hair had to be curled first to make it easier to style into an up-do.

Hebe whipped my hair into a Classic Chignon, and stuck some pearl accessories into it.

Once we got to Joe’s house for the Tea Ceremony, Hebe again whipped her magic on my hair and created this masterpiece!!

I don’t even know what kind of bun this is but it looks great! Fresh pink flowers plucked from my mother-in-law’s flower arrangement, which she placed in our bridal suite. It was all Hebe’s idea!! hehehe…

You can see the details of the hair-do from this picture of us hugging Erin, Joe’s older sister. And I think the highlights in my hair makes a difference. So if you’re thinking of getting your hair coloured before your wedding, remember to ask for highlights! My hair colour is thanks to Peek-a-boo at The Curve! (03 7725 2912)

As for the dinner reception in KL, this time, I didn’t want too dramatic of a look.

We opted for brown and gold (in line with my theme) eyeshadow and again, kept the lips slightly nude. My jewelleries are on loan from DeGem. Real diamonds yo!! I can buy an apartment with that necklace!

By this time, I was out of ideas, so I gave Hebe the liberty to do whatever she wanted. And she came up with this! Which looked both sweet and sexy!

Later in the evening, when I changed into my evening Cheongsam, we changed my hairstyle as well. This was what Hebe called the Korean low bun. She managed to do this with my hair in less than 15 minutes!

Besides having good hair and makeup, your nails are equally as important for your big day, lots of pictures will be taken of your hands (like this one) and you don’t want to have grubby nails. I had my french gel nails done at The Nail Shop at the Curve (03 7729 6991) for the occasion and they lasted for an entire month!!

Except for my hair colour which was sponsored by Peek-a-boo, none of these other things were sponsored. I had to pay (albeit at a discounted price) for all these products and services, and I’m posting them here for your convenience only! Anyways, this should be my final post on all things wedding related. I hope you’ve enjoyed all my wedding posts.
